A small editorial desk writing the sports coverage we wanted to read
comelivesports started as a notes file between friends who worked beats at different outlets. We kept arguing about coverage that over-promised and under-sourced, so we built our own.
The newsroom, by desk

The cricket desk runs on a weekly cadence, with the daily match hubs and the weekly analysis pieces. The desk is led by a named editor with a track record of cricket reporting across the international and franchise windows.
Football
The football desk runs on a daily cadence, with the match hubs, the press-conference round-ups and the tactical reads. The desk is led by a named editor with a track record of football reporting across the European cups and the top five leagues.
Tennis, basketball and F1
The tennis, basketball and F1 desks run on the calendar's rhythm, with the tournament coverage, the weekly reads and the methodology pieces. The desks are led by named editors with track records in their sports.
Golf, athletics and fantasy
The golf, athletics and fantasy desks run on the major-week and the international-window rhythm. The desks are led by named editors with track records in their beats.
How we are funded
comelivesports is funded by reader subscriptions and by occasional foundation grants for specific reporting projects. The funding model is designed to keep the editorial calendar free of advertiser pressure. The commercial team has no input into which stories are covered or how they are framed.
The publication does not run native advertising or sponsored content. Every article is labelled as editorial. The publication does not accept payment for coverage. Coverage is bought by the subscriber, not by an advertiser. The editorial disclosure is published in full at editorial disclosure.
Editorial standards, in detail
The standards document is published in full at editorial standards. It covers sourcing, attribution, corrections, prediction methodology, fantasy reads, photography and the separation of editorial and commercial. The standards are public, and the desk holds itself to them.
Sourcing: the desk names the source. Quotes carry the publication; statistics carry the period and provider. The desk does not paraphrase unattributed speculation, and the desk will not republish rumours as fact.
Attribution: every article carries the byline of the editor or reporter who wrote it. Statistics are labelled with the provider and the period. Quotes are reproduced in the original wording, and the desk does not paraphrase a non-answer into a quote.
Corrections: corrections are public, dated, and linked back to the original article. Corrections go out the same day. The corrections log lives at /legal/corrections/.
Predictions: predictions are evidence-led. The desk picks a window, names the players, states the shape and the open question. The desk does not promise outcomes.
Fantasy reads: the fantasy desk treats selection as a research exercise. Captain picks are reasoned, not guaranteed. The desk does not sell picks, run affiliate tipster codes, or publish picks in exchange for payment.
A note on the corrections policy
The corrections policy is published in full at /legal/corrections/. The policy covers how the desk publishes corrections, when the desk publishes them, and how to contact us about an error.
If you spot an error — a stat, a quote, a name, a date, a venue — please tell us. Use [email protected] or the contact page. Include the URL of the article and a short description of the error. Corrections go out the same day we confirm the error.
The desk will correct factual errors, errors of context, and errors of attribution. The desk will not correct an editorial judgement or an opinion. If you disagree with our analysis, we will publish a response or a counter-argument, but we will not issue a correction.
