Corrections policy

How we publish corrections

Corrections are published the same day we confirm an error. The correction is dated, linked back to the original article, and explains what changed and why.

The corrections log

The corrections log lives at the top of this page. Every correction is recorded with the article, the changed fact, the correction time, and a brief explanation.

How to report an error

If you spot an error — a stat, a quote, a name, a date, a venue — please tell us. Email [email protected] or use the contact page. Include the URL of the article and a short description of the error.

What we will and will not correct

  • We will correct factual errors: wrong stats, wrong dates, wrong venues, wrong quotes, wrong attributions.
  • We will correct errors of context: a stat that was labelled with the wrong period, a quote that was attributed to the wrong person.
  • We will not correct an editorial judgement. If you disagree with our analysis, we will publish a response or a counter-argument, but we will not issue a "correction".
  • We will not correct an opinion. If you disagree with an opinion piece, the contact page has a route for letters to the editor.
