Format

The 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, with the athletics programme running at the Memorial Coliseum and the swimming programme at SoFi Stadium. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 14 July 2028.

The qualifying windows open in early 2026 for the marathon and the field events, with the swimming qualifying window running through 2027. The trials schedule for the US team has been published by USA Track and Field and USA Swimming.
